Conditions of Entry:
  • All Drivers must hold a current SNZ Inc. licence and all drivers must comply with the current Speedway New Zealand Rule Book and Supplementary Regulations. https://www.speedway.co.nz/technical-1/rulebook-1/rulebook-1
  • Technical inspections – please pay attention to rule E2-3.
  • Noise level is 95dba and will be enforced.
  • Mylaps will be used. Vehicles without a working mylaps will not be permitted to race.
  • All drivers must wear working race receivers.
  • You will be required to register to race through Race Control, if you haven’t used this before you will need to set up a profile.   https://racecontrol.nz/login.php
  • Duplicate numbers permitted.
  • Riverside Speedway reserves the right to alter the format to a SNZ approved format after the closing date after consultation with officials if deemed necessary. You will be notified of any changes.
  • In the event that you have already forwarded an entry and discover you can’t make it, please let us know as soon as possible.
  • In the event of a rainout, the promoter reserves the right to hold this event on the next most opportune day and time which is the 8th March 2026 1pm.
  • No telephone entries will be accepted.
ENTRIES CLOSE: 23rd February 2026 – late entries will incur a late fee of $50.00.  
Pit Area
  • All crew & supporters must sign in at the clubrooms.
  • All children under the age of 12 must wear a hi vis vest and be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Pit Gates Open – 10:30am

Everyone pays at the pit gate which helps cover the cost of the ambulance – there is no separate ambulance fee.

Adults $25.00 / Children 5-15 years $10 / Under 5 free / Pensioners $10

Scrutineering

At Riverside Speedway: 12pm – 2pm

Drivers Briefing

Drivers Briefing will be held in the clubrooms as 2:15pm.

Attendance at the drivers briefing is mandatory. Any driver not attending will be subject to exclusion to the event. Drivers only please.

Grand Parade – 2:30pm
Racing Starts – 3pm
Format M4-22

Points are awarded from 1st to last, regardless of whether the car crosses the line to receive the chequered flag.

Format M4-23
Qualifying
  • Elimination Heats and repechage(s) are held to find a maximum of 24 finalists.
  • Elimination heats will be 12 laps.
  • No competitor can be seeded directly into the finals
  • Point and Grid ties will be decided by fastest lap times.
  • Competitors are split into 3 groups and race in 2 heats each as follows:
    Heat 1   Heat 2   Heat 3
    Outside row    Gp1       Gp3      Gp2
    Inside row       Gp2       Gp1      Gp3
  • The second heat is in reverse grid draw to the first marble draw and on different row.
  • The top 6 competitors from each group will quality to the final race.
  • 1 repechage of 12 laps to find the final 6 competitors from those left from each group to a maximum of 24.  In the event of a tie on grid positions the driver with the fastest lap will win the higher position.  Top 6 across the line in this race will go into the final race and make up the final 6 places in order of finishing.
Final Race
  • The Final race will be 25 laps.
  • The highest point scorer has a choice of grid one or grid two and the rest of the grid is in descending order of points awarded from the previous final heats and repechage.
  • Grid ties will be decided by fastest lap time in previous final heats.
  • All previous points awarded do not count in the final race.
  • The winner of the Final race becomes the Champion.
  • The rest of the placings will be awarded in finishing order

All and any restarts in elimination races and final race will be single file.

Award Ceremony

Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd placings at a prize giving after the conclusion of meeting.

Code Of Conduct

Code Of Conduct

Aotea Riverside Speedway encourages good sportsmanship at all levels of the competition.  Below is our guide to codes of conduct for all club members, officials, volunteers and associates.  

  • Treat all participants, officials and volunteers as you would like to be treated yourself.
  • Verbal abuse, threats and physical violence are not acceptable behaviours.
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants, regardless of their ability, gender or cultural background.
  • The consumption of drugs or any other illegal substances are not permitted on our premises.  
  • The consumption of alcohol is not permitted before, during and after a race meeting in the non-alcohol areas of our premises.  (Pit area & Arena from Middle of back straight until clubrooms) Clubrooms is only permitted after a race meeting by purchasing from the bar.  
  • Theft, vandalism and wilful damage to club property and property of others within our premises is not acceptable.    
  • Bringing our club into disrepute in any form (media, social media, public display etc.) is not acceptable.  

Drivers:

  • Always comply with SNZ rules.
  • Avoid arguing with officials.
  • Treat all competitors as you would like to be treated – do not interfere with, bully or take advantage of any other participant. This includes using txt, email or social media to bully or slander competitors.
  • The use of coarse or derogatory language is not acceptable behaviour.  
  • All drivers are responsible for the behaviour and conduct of all pit crew, family members and associates while in the pit area and clubrooms, before, during and after a race meeting.

Officials:

  • Be impartial, consistent and objective at all times.
  • Place the safety and welfare of all participants above all else.
  • Ensure the spirit of the competition is maintained.  
  • Be understanding and co-operative in the interpretation and application of rules and penalties.
  • Condemn unsporting behaviour and promote respect for all competitors.

Parents:

  • Encourage children to participate to the best of their ability.
  • Teach children that an honest effort is as important as victory.
  • Encourage your children to follow SNZ rules and respect the work and decisions of all officials.  
  • Set a good example by not using derogatory or abusive language.  

Volunteers:

  • Carry out duties and responsibilities in a safe, efficient and competent way.
  • Neither use, nor allow the use of club property, resources, information or funds other than for authorised purposes.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of any information obtained.

Social Media

We encourage participation in online social media in a positive manner.  The accessible nature of the internet however, can lend itself to the posting of threatening and derogatory material in the heat of the moment.  Once your thoughts and comments are published they are visible to the world.  

We take all cases of cyber bullying seriously and will treat online matters as if it would be “real world” bullying.

Breaching our code of conduct can lead to serious consequences including imposing immediate penalties, suspensions and expulsions.  The committee will investigate all breaches and determine action required and if need be will take the breaches to the members of the club to make a decision.

Rules
  • One Day Derby Licenses available ONLINE ONLY through Speedway NZ Website http://www.speedway.co.nz/licences/one-day-licence (not needed if you have a season licence)
  • Refer to Speedway NZ Rule Book for all vehicle requirements and safety equipment.  https://www.speedway.co.nz/technical-1/rulebook-1/rulebook-1
  • Scrutineering at the track will be between 10am – 12pm (at the latest).
  • There will be a drivers briefing in the clubrooms approx. 1 hour before racing starts, that you MUST attend.

ENTRY FEE $50.00   Please pay to account 03-0809-0044075-00 and use your name and derby as reference.

ONE DAY LICENCE $70.00

Tell us on the day what your car number is after being scrutineered.

Vehicle Details

I agree to comply with the club’s Rules and Specifications listed in the agreement made this 3rd May 2025 at the Aotea Electric Riverside Speedway track.  I further agree to compete at my own risk and I hereby indemnify the Promoter, any other competitor, The Invercargill City Council, Speedway New Zealand and the NZACU Inc., The Southland Stock Car Drivers Association and its officials and servants of all or any liabilities arising from my participation in the demolition derby type/race competition. I also agree to accept the referee’s decision as being final. You MUST be at prize giving to collect prize money.
